Birthday Celebrations
On October 14th Beth
turned 2 years old! When we arrived,
Beth was only 9 months old and now at 2 years old she has officially spent more
of her life in Africa than in the States.
It is hard to believe that our little “Malawian– American” is growing up. On her birthday, we had a special visit from
Doris (our former nanny) who came and surprised Beth with a visit. Doris did
Beth’s hair (one of their favorite things to do together) and we got to
celebrate Beth’s birthday with a dinner of cheese pizza, mac n’cheese, and chocolate cupcakes and chocolate ice-cream. Beth’s favorite parts of the day were her birthday balloons, blowing out the candles
on her cake, and opening up her cards and presents from family back home. We lit and re-lit the birthday candles 4 times because Beth enjoyed blowing them out so much.
Nine days later we celebrated
Bruce’s 42nd birthday! Bruce didn’t so much care for his birthday balloons or
blowing out his birthday candles, but he did enjoy his favorite meal (broccoli, chicken & pasta) complete
with homemade chocolate cake and coffee-chocolate chip ice-cream. We celebrated both Bruce’s and Beth’s birthdays
by spending two days at the lake.
We enjoyed some great, quiet family time playing and resting at Lake
Malawi.
