Moving...



As some of you may know, on July 4th we moved from the house we rented this past year to an off campus house, about 2 miles from the college.  With all the staff of ABC’s college, academy, and clinic, on-campus housing is in high demand and several of our friends have already spent a year living outside the ABC walls.  It took about 2 days to pack our belongings and move to our new house.  We were so blessed to have many friends who helped by moving boxes, watching our girls and providing dinner for us during the move day.  It has taken a couple of weeks to settle into our new house but we are officially unpacked and feeling settled and at home.  God has provided us with a beautiful home, with plenty of space (even with a “guest quarters”) and a nice yard for the girls to run around in.

As you may imagine, life off campus has been a lot different for us!  On campus we could take the girls to the playground and the homes of friends without getting in the car.  We could take the one minute walk to our offices for work and Grace could bike to school every morning.  Additionally, Grace had the run of the campus visiting friends in the afternoons without the need to plan an “official play date” for her.  We also only had to step off our front khondi (porch) to visit with our fellow missionary friends and students at the college.  Despite the fact that every day we knew we were taking care of someone else’s house and yard, living on campus allowed us a smooth transition to missionary life at ABC.  Although we enjoyed some of the perks of living on campus, we are really enjoying the quiet and privacy of life off campus. We love the uninterrupted family time at home and being part of a local community neighborhood.  Already, Bruce and Grace have walked down to visit a neighbor’s storefront that is about five houses down the road from us.  We also love the physical separation of work and home.  It is wonderful to be able to drive away from work and ministry and be at a place where we can fully relax and recharge.  In the coming months, we are looking forward to extending hospitality to many of our friends and students at ABC.
