Since our last blog entry, we wanted to update you on all the great happenings that took place during the month of June. On June 4th, we had our church “see you soon” party with many of our friends and family from Crossroads. It was a truly special night of celebrating all the wonderful things that God has done in the past 11 years of Bruce’s time as pastor at CCC. It was an over-the-top night and we were (and continue to be) so blessed to be part of the Crossroads church ministry and privileged to be part of the lives of so many dear friends.
The month of June was also the first month that we were without a home as we have rented out our home for the next three years. We spent the month with our friends, Nate and Naomi Dishington and their three kids Judah, Ellie and Molly. The month flew by and we had a blast living life with the Dishington family. Grace and Beth had hours of fun playing with Judah, Ellie and Molly and we had many great conversations and many moments of fun and laughter. Words cannot express our deep thanks to Nate and Naomi for their generous hospitality and their great friendship!
June was also the last day of work for both me (Sarah) and Bruce. Leaving my job after six years at Advocates, Inc. was bittersweet. My co-workers took me out to lunch and we had a party with many office mates on my last day. I loved working with the people at Advocates and I will miss them a lot. Bruce’s last “official” sermon was June 26th and his last day in the office was June 30th. Despite the craziness of the past few months, Bruce finished well in all he needed to accomplish at work. Finally in the last few weeks of June we had the privilege to have dinner with some of our dear friends from Crossroads. Thank you for hosting our family for some wonderful evenings of great meals and wonderful company. We will miss you!
As we count down to July 20th (the day we leave the States), we will be spending the next three weeks with family and close friends. We are currently with my family and Bruce’s parents in Florida visiting the magical world of Disney! We have had so much fun these past three days going to Magic Kingdom, the Animal Kingdom and hanging out at the pool. Grace is especially looking forward to breakfast with the princesses at Cinderella’s castle on Wednesday (we will post pictures soon). On July 9th we head to Stowe, Vermont to be with Bruce’s family and some close friends. We are then home in the Framingham area on July 17th and 18th and will be leaving on the 19th for New York to fly out on the 20th. We are looking forward to these last few weeks here to relax and enjoy quality time with friends and family before our adventure to Africa.
